More than anything, John wants to be an airline pilot. Fresh from the Vietnam war, he begins his odyssey flying missionaries over the jungles of Irian Jaya, Indonesia. He plans to stay a short time as he gains flying experience. However, he didn't count on meeting Marta, a widowed missionary. In spite of different motivations, the two are somehow drawn to one another. In the midst, both must deal with their feelings as they experience the outcome of tribal warfare, trouble making miners, and humorous villagers.

Just finished reading "Under the Lontar Palm" for the second time.

This first novel of Mr. Bennett is one that should have a permanent spot on your coffee table.

The story of John and Marta is one that will keep you turning the pages as it reveals God's faithfulness.

This novel will send you back to a refresher on "The Purpose Driven Life" as it demonstrates the paths that sometimes do not look like God's work, but leads to His purpose for you during this period of history.

I look forward to future book by this author.
